THE BEATLE WHO VANISHED

The Beatle Who Vanished is the first historical account of Jimmie Nicol, an unknown London drummer who saved The Beatles’ first world tour from disaster and then vanished. The mystery of Nicol’s legend is riddled with blacklisting, divorce, drug abuse, bankruptcy, and his disappearance, leading many to question whether he is dead or alive. The film based upon The Beatle Who Vanished is currently in development in England. The author, Jim Berkenstadt, is working with the screenwriter Paul Viragh on the script.

Berkenstadt will discuss the origins of digging up this “new” chapter in Beatles history, the difficulties of researching someone who never wanted to be found, and the major motion picture now in development.

Jim Berkenstadt is the Rock And Roll Detective®. A true musical Sherlock Holmes, Berkenstadt uncovers the lost history and mysteries hidden within decades of popular music. He currently serves as Co-Executive Producer and Script Consultant for the Ecosse Studios feature film based upon his Bestseller, The Beatle Who Vanished.

An international authority on Rock And Roll, he served as historical consultant to Olivia Harrison's HBO Emmy winning film, George Harrison: Living in the Material World, directed by Martin Scorsese, and as historical consultant to The Beatles’ company Apple Corps Ltd., and the Estate of George Harrison.

In addition to The Beatle Who Vanished, Berkenstadt has authored Black Market Beatles and Classic Rock Albums: Nirvana - Nevermind. All three books have been inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame Library and Archives. He also appears as an expert on the Reelz Channel TV series Celebrity Legacies and Celebrity Damage Control. Berkenstadt is a Chicago native and currently lives in Madison, Wisconsin.

About the Cigar Society of Chicago

ONE OF THE OLDEST AND greatest traditions of the city clubs of Chicago is the discussion of intellectual, social, legal, artistic, historical, scientific, musical, theatrical, and philosophical issues in the company of educated, bright, and appropriately provocative individuals, all under the beneficent influence of substantial amounts of tobacco and spirits.  The Cigar Society of Chicago embraces this tradition and extends it with its Informal Smokers, University Series lectures, and Cigar Society Dinners, in which cigars, and from time to time pipes and cigarettes, appear as an important component of our version of the classical symposium.  To be included in the Cigar Society's mailing list, write to the secretary at curtis.tuckey@logicophilosophicus.org
