Scott Stantis, editorial cartoonist and editorial board
member at the Chicago Tribune, will present a slide show of his
political cartoons and talk about how they came to be, and the
responses from his readers.
Scott joined the Tribune staff as editorial cartoonist in 2009, to
fill the spot vacated by the late Jeff MacNelly nine years earlier.
He was previously a staff cartoonist for The Birmingham News, The
Orange County Register, The Commercial Appeal, The Arizona Republic,
and the Grand Rapids Press. His work is syndicated in over 400
newspapers.
Check out his
Gallery of Cartoons at the Tribune, as well as a remarkable
two-minute video documentary,
An Editorial Cartoon in Two Minutes.
Scott also has a weekly video piece on WGN America that is seen in
over 74 million homes, and he is the creator of the internationally
syndicated comic strip "Prickly City."
In other projects: he is an ordained minister who recently
officiated at his son's wedding, and he and his wife of twenty
years, Janien, have written a short play that is scheduled to be
performed in Chicago next month.

About
the Cigar Society of Chicago
ONE OF THE OLDEST AND greatest
traditions of the city clubs of Chicago is the discussion of
intellectual, social, legal, artistic, historical, scientific,
musical, theatrical, and philosophical issues in the company of
educated, bright, and appropriately provocative individuals, all
under the beneficent influence of substantial amounts of tobacco
and spirits. The
Cigar Society of Chicago embraces this tradition and
extends it with its Informal Smokers,
University Series lectures, and Cigar Society Dinners,
in which cigars, and from time to time pipes and cigarettes,
appear as an important component of our version of the classical
symposium. To be included in the Cigar Society's
mailing list, write to the Secretary at
CigarSociety@logicophilosophicus.org.
