APRIL
FOOLS!
What's in a joke? What makes jokes
funny (or not)? Where do they come from and how are they made? On April
Fool's Day, Ted Cohen,
an expert in esthetic theory and professor of philosophy at the
University of Chicago, will address the Cigar Society on Jokes.
Along with actually telling some jokes, Dr. Cohen will touch on his
theories of conditional and asymmetrical jokes, the acceptance of
absurdity, and matters of taste, morality, and propriety. $30 includes
premium open bar, light hors d'oeuvre, and special cigars. We will be
meeting privately in the smoking lounge at Iwan Ries. RSVP to tuckey@post.com.
