Wednesday, June 7.   Classical Music Salon followed by smoking in the bar.

An impromptu gathering of Cigar Society members will follow the Classical Music Salon (see below) this Wednesday in the Tower Club bar, at about 6pm.

Fine fettle or fretted cello?

This Wednesday, Craig Trompeter, gambist, will be joined by Mary Springfels, Musician in Residence at the Newberry Library and director of the Early Music Ensemble at Northwestern University, in a program of baroque favorites in the Salon Series at the Tower Club. The program will feature the music of Marin Marais, including variations on the La Folia theme, composed around 1700. This 14th century folk tune served as the basis for over 200 works by various composers during the years surrounding the turn of the 18th century.  5:00 wine-and-cheese reception, 5:15 recital.  $12.00 .
